Book Review:
Me and You in the Big Green Canoe
Written By: Stephanie Crane & Joanne Deter
Illustrated By: Marta Maszkiewicz

Synopsis:
It's a new day, and the sun is up; Cody Bear is ready to climb into his big green canoe. An adventurous protagonist, Cody Bear always gets excited when he hears the sound of splish splashes.
Paddle…Swish… Paddle…Swish…Paddle…Swish… He starts moving in the big green canoe. Dashing through the birch trees comes the raccoon, a good friend of Cody Bear; he wants to join the canoeing expedition. The friendly bear lets him in and asks the raccoon to paddle in the front. A little ahead, an anxious eagle spots them and requests to join them; Cody Bear agrees and assigns her a job to look out for the arising boulders on their way.
Paddle…Swish… Up from a meadow, a cheerful deer bleats, and he wants to join the crew in the canoe; Cody Bear agrees, with the condition that the deer has to sense danger if anything is near. More wild animals are joining Cody Bear and the crew on their way. Things got into trouble when the Forest Friends crew was at a point in the river where they had to face a hurdle. The rest of the narrative revolves around how they overcome obstacles by relying on each other and their ability to navigate.
My Review:
With beautiful and engaging illustrations, this story is a delightful read for kids and adults. Cody Bear and his Forest Friends teach us the importance of teamwork. All the animals were resilient and very focused on their job, which helps us to understand the importance of learning, adapting, and growing in all situations. With an interesting storyline, the authors try to convey why appreciating nature and the world surrounding us is important.
This story can be used to teach about different animals and birds. Additionally, the vocabulary used in the story is extensive and worth exploring and understanding.
